About Ian Philpot

Ian Philpot is a writer. Ian currently works as a Marketing Director. Ian also has a decade of vast experience working on email campaigns, social networks, web strategy, and web content. He loves talking about technology and design trends, but most of all, Ian loves talking about social media.

Ian Philpot was born in Crystal Lake, IL. Ian attended Crystal Lake Central High School, the same school that his parents, grandmother, and great-grandfather attended before him. In 2018, Ian was appointed as Commissioner to the Crystal Lake Planning & Zoning Committee, joining a family history of public service in Crystal Lake — including his grandmother, Patricia Philpot, who served on the District 155 School Board and his great-grandfather, Clarence “Mickey” Sund, who served in the Crystal Lake Park District.

Ian has always loved learning, writing, and technology. When Ian was 12, he taught himself to code HTML. When Ian was 18, he taught himself right-handed guitar (even though Ian is left-handed). Ian has poems published in McHenry County College’s Voice and Northern Illinois University’s Towers.

Ian is a husband to Erin, a father to Claire, Joel, and Mickey, and—until he was 13—he wanted to be Batman. During his free time, Ian likes to play guitar and take in culture through movies, books, music, and people-watching.
